FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know before uploading your first file.

Getting started
Does YieldSentinel connect directly to my ERP, POS, or fleet system?

No — YieldSentinel starts with a CSV or Excel export from your existing system. No integration, no API keys, no IT project required. Export a file from the system you already use and upload it directly. That is the entire setup.

Does my data leave my browser?

No. All analysis runs locally in your browser using a built-in analytics engine. Your file is never uploaded to any server — not ours, not anyone else’s. This is an architectural constraint, not a policy. See Trust & Security for the full technical breakdown.

What if my CSV column names are different from the standard?

YieldSentinel automatically recognises common naming conventions across major ERP, POS, and accounting systems — QuickBooks, SAP, NetSuite, Xero, Sage, Toast, Shopify, and others. After upload it shows a data quality indicator so you can see exactly what was mapped before the analysis runs.

What systems does it work with?

Any system that can export CSV or Excel. Confirmed compatible systems include SAP Business One, NetSuite, Epicor, SYSPRO, Acumatica, Business Central, Sage, QuickBooks, Xero, Toast, Square, Lightspeed, Shopify, Samsara, Fleetio, McLeod, and any ERP, POS, or fleet system with an export function.

Results and accuracy
Are the results accounting-grade or directional?

Directional operational diagnostics based on the data you upload — not audited financials. The findings are estimates based on your actual exports and are designed to surface where to look first, not to replace your accounting records. Most users find the direction and order-of-magnitude accurate enough to prioritise action.

Pricing and plans
What happens after the free trial?

After 7 days, paid modules require a Starter ($179/month) or Finance ($299/month) subscription. The Yield Loss module remains free with usage limits. Your saved analysis results are preserved regardless of plan. You can upgrade directly in the app — no sales call required.

Can consultants and advisors use this with multiple clients?

Yes — the Advisor Plan at $699/month is built specifically for ERP consultants, fractional CFOs, restaurant advisors, retail consultants, and fleet operations advisors. It includes a multi-client workspace, white-label PDF outputs (Profit Recovery Brief with your firm’s name), and a portfolio dashboard. See the Advisor Plan page for full detail.

Industry coverage
Does this work for restaurants and food service?

Yes — food cost % by category, usage variance vs recipe standard, waste tracking, beverage variance, menu item margin ranked worst to best, and multi-location comparison. No POS integration required. Works with any POS or accounting export including Toast, Square, and Lightspeed Restaurant.

Does this work for trucking and fleet operators?

Yes — cost per mile by vehicle, fuel variance vs standard MPG by driver and route, maintenance cost outliers, and route profitability. No telematics hardware required. Works with fuel log CSVs, Samsara exports, Fleetio exports, McLeod, and any fleet management system with a CSV export.

Who is YieldSentinel not ideal for?

Companies with a mature BI team and a clean, integrated data warehouse who already have custom dashboards covering yield, inventory, and margin. Pure service businesses with no physical goods, inventory, or fleet operations. Enterprises requiring real-time ERP integration or live database connections.
